It’s even better when you come meet the Award-Winning Local Authors who write the books you love to read! Have a blast talking all things book and don’t forget to get a signed copy of your favorite! It’s a great way to support local authors and our community.

The Desert Foothills Book Festival grew from the desire of a group of local authors to connect personally with book lovers and to promote an appreciation of reading and the literary arts. With the Tucson Book Festival to the south and the Payson and Prescott Book Festivals to the north, this small group felt the greater Phoenix, Scottsdale, Cave Creek, and Carefree areas were missing a valuable opportunity to meet and engage with local authors from all genres.

Mission Statement:

The Desert Foothills Book Festival is a celebration of the importance of reading in our community. Offered free to the public, the festival exists to promote literacy and a love of reading among adults and children by creating an interactive and inclusive venue for readers and authors to connect. Net proceeds from the festival support local literacy programs.

Presented by The Holland Center and Desert Foothills Library

The Holland Center:

Formerly known as the Foothills Community Foundation, The Holland Center is a vibrant, community-oriented nonprofit organization. Located in Scottsdale and serving the communities of North Scottsdale, Cave Creek, and Carefree, the Holland Center is a unique partnership dedicated to enriching the Desert Foothills community by celebrating arts and culture, treasuring our desert environment, assisting those in need, and encouraging lifelong learning. The Holland Center provides support, opportunity, and connection for area residents through a diverse array of programs, ranging from intriguing classes to fine arts exhibits to community theatre and beyond.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Holland Center is proud to receive 100% of our funding through the generosity of our donors; we do not receive any support from government entities. We are ever grateful for our donors and are passionate about maximizing our funds to enhance quality of life for all residents in our community.

Desert Foothills Library:

Founded in 1954, Desert Foothills Library is Maricopa County's only public library that is a privately funded, and a non-profit. Our mission is to enrich the Desert Foothills Community by promoting literacy and advancing knowledge through library resources and programs that inspire and support lifelong learning.

As an independent library, we are able to quickly respond to community needs and create unique services targeted to our small community. This includes our comprehensive programming, which is regularly assessed and adjusted to meet the needs and desires of those we serve. Desert Foothills Library prides itself on multigenerational programming, offering programs where our youngest and our most experienced community members are able to come together and share their stories and lived experience.
