Event Details

Join us for a fun and interactive workshop while we make our own Miriam tambourines! They can be given as gifts, used as wall decoration, or as a part of family Passover celebrations. Every welcome!

Miriam and her tambourine are depicted in many artworks including paintings, prints and machine embroidery designs. In the Bible (Exodus 15), she is described as taking a tambourine and leading the women in dancing and singing. Some commentators say that Miriam brought the tambourine with her from Egypt, where she kept it during her years of slavery. The tambourine was used by ancient musicians in Ancient Egypt and the Ancient Near East, and eventually spread to Greece and other places.

Cost: $10.00 Per Person | Register at dfla.org | Class size is limited to 20 participants. | Questions, please call 480-488-2286.
