Program Description

Event Details

Please join Dean Grissom, full time artist and author of Two Waters: A Cherokee Man and His Family, as he shares his lifelong journey studying the native people in the Western States. The Native People, their history, culture, art and their troubles, are the things that move his heart and influence his art.

Dean spent his entire life learning about his Cherokee ancestor. As such, the Cherokee People are his main interest, and he spent years studying their history, learning to speak their words and phrases in their language, and collecting their art. Eventually he put everything he'd learned into a book. Two Waters: A Cherokee Man and His Family not only shares the history of the Cherokee, but also helps the reader understand the impact from the actions imposed on them by the U.S. Government.

Come along on a journey through decades of researching, learning, and visiting historical places. Dean will also share some items he's collected during his journeys, and answer any questions about his book, his art and the Cherokee People.
